You have just completed the 1st session... the 1st step to Apps Development :)

Under comments,

1. List down some new terms you learn today :)
{Your vocabulary list will grow over time...}

2. List down any question(s) you have so that Mr Pong and Mr Li would be able to address to in the next lesson.

3. What you like to know more?

You may also enter your enquiries if you 'hit' any problem along the way... or help others in the class if you know how to resolve the 'problem' posted :)

Remember: Identify yourself when you post your comments.

  1. Term 4 Week 5: For REVIEW SESSION:
    1. Briefly describe what you have learnt in the 4 sessions of basic programming.
Ans: I learnt how to program an iPhone using Xcode. Although its quite a tedious job, it is actually very fun and will help us for the long future.

    2. Share 1-2 things you like about the training.
Ans: I like the training as the trainer will respond to our queries and answer them accordingly.

    3. Highlight 1-2 things that you think could be further improved.
Ans: I think that ICT lessons could actually be held after school like a CCA as programming is actually a very tedious process, and it would take a longer time to do so.

    4. Would you like to carry on with the next level of programming workshops in the near future? Why?
Ans: Yes, Of course. That is because programming iPhone apps is actually a very useful skill that you can have. This skill will last you for a very long period of time especially if your ambition is to be a programer.

  2. 1) I learned how to add outlets onto buttons and labels.

    2) I liked the animation in the app.

    3) I think that the instruction could be clearer and the lesson could be faster.

    4) Yes. Learning how to do programming is very interesting and I wish to do learn more.

  3. 1. Briefly describe what you have learnt in the 4 sessions of basic programming.
We learnt how to create apps that can change the words written on the label when clicked on it. We also learnt how to put pictures into the apps and how to scroll them when they are too large in size. We also learnt how to put transitions for the apps so that when a button is clicked, a transition is shown before going to the next page. We also learnt how to create the BMI App, to show what is your body mass index, and how to show the category you are in, whether you are emaciated, underweight, normal, etc.

    2. Share 1-2 things you like about the training.
I like creating the apps and looking at the end product of the application created. I also like making the app work and it amazes me.

    3. Highlight 1-2 things that you think could be further improved.
The duration of the workshop should be longer and they could have taught us more things as it was fun creating the apps.

    4. Would you like to carry on with the next level of programming workshops in the near future? Why?
Yes, the programming workshop was very fun and engaging and I want to learn how to create more exciting and working apps.

  4. 1) I learn how to create an Xcode UI, program with code and create a working application.
    2) I liked being able to create a working program using code.
    3) I think we could have a longer programming course instead of it ending so quickly.
    4) I would prefer to not continue on next year as I would rather focus on other subjects.

  5. 1. Briefly describe what you have learnt in the 4 sessions of basic programming.
Ans: I have learnt how to code basic applications and i understand how the applications are being made.

    2. Share 1-2 things you like about the training.
Ans: I like the fact that we are able to experience this first hand and also make Apps.

    3. Highlight 1-2 things that you think could be further improved.
Ans: I think that they should have someone to help us whenever we have help, because once we have a problem and we cannot solve it, we cannot advance further

    4. Would you like to carry on with the next level of programming workshops in the near future? Why?
Ans: Yes, i would, this is because we can have experience it and understand how it works. If we are able to code a app ourself then it will be a very useful skill to have.

  6. 1. I learnt how to code for different applications serving different functions, such as it changes text when you click on it.

    2. We can get a hands on experience on how to code, and how interesting creating an application is.

    3. They could have a slightly longer session and teach us more interesting things about it.

    4. Not really, its really complicated and the skills we learnt this year we can't exactly use it for the other subjects.

  7. Term 4 Week 5: For REVIEW SESSION:
Briefly describe what you have learnt in the 4 sessions of basic programming.

    The languagge

Share 1-2 things you like about the training.

I like the way we learn by doing ourselves.

Highlight 1-2 things that you think could be further improved.

There could be more sessions and we could go slower

Would you like to carry on with the next level of programming workshops in the near future? Why?

Yes I would like to carry on with the next level of programming workshops in the near future. This is because I like programming

  8. 1) I now know more about what kind of codes is needed to run the application and how the computer reacts to these codes to create the application.
    2) What I like about the training is creating the applications and running the application that I did.
    3) I think the duration of the course could be longer. This kind of programming could be made into a CCA instead as this takes up our school time and some of us would rather use this time studying on our core subjects.
    4) Yes, I would want to continue studying on programming. I like making the applications and seeing it run without fail. This kind of programming knowledge may help us in the future if we want a programming career.

  9. 1.I have learnt simple programming words/ symbols, how to add images to a page, how to add buttons and placeholders and how to change the way a page turns/ changes. I have learnt how to add files to the project and how to add a picture to the icon of the created application.

2.The training was very insightful and interesting. I liked lesson 2 and 3 the most. In lesson 2, we created pages and put photos in them, changed the way the page turns/changes. It was quite fun. In lesson 3, we created a BMI calculator. I had fun designing the page. The codes were quite long and it was quite tedious to copy all down but I forgot all about that when I saw the end product.

3.The lesson could have been longer so that we could have accomplished and learnt more.

4.Yes, I would as although programming can be quite tedious, it can also be very fun and enjoyable, especially when you see your end product, you have a sense of achievement and you feel quite happy.

  10. 1) Briefly describe what you have learnt in the 4 sessions of basic programming.
Ans: I have learnt how to create a basic iPhone app with basic knowledge on programming itself. For example, a BMI calculator. I learnt how to put the codes together and what they meant to create a calculator and display results.

    2) Share 1-2 things you like about the training.
Ans: I like that fact that we are able to learn how to create an app earlier than other schools.

    3) Highlight 1-2 things that you think could be further improved.
Ans: I feel that we could have an assistant teacher to help out the main teacher in answering all the student's request and inquiries. This way, we can progress faster as a class.

    4) Would you like to carry on with the next level of programming workshops in the near future? Why?
Ans: Instead of giving a solid answer, I feel that this kind of activities can be planned AFTER the examinations as it has no link to whatsoever academic subjects.

Ans: I have learnt how to design basic navigation apps and also apps that can view photos, and also how to create a calculator app.

    2. Share 1-2 things you like about the training.
Ans: I like it when my app is working and dose not crash, then I get a sense of achievement.

    3. Highlight 1-2 things that you think could be further improved.
Ans: We could have been given a short intro to the basic terms of programming so we could be a bit more familiar with the terms used as some of us were quite lost.

    4. Would you like to carry on with the next level of programming workshops in the near future? Why?
Ans: YES! Of course! The workshop was fun and I wanted to be able to do these things from young.
